Princess Cruises will upgrade six more of its ships with its MedallionNet WiFi in 2020.
Along with the MedallionNet upgrades, Princess is also upgrading ships to its MedallionClass Vacations this year and next. The MedallionNet upgrade will allow guests to sail with OceanMedallion, a piece of wearable technology that Princess introduced last year, which holds a guest’s information so that crew members can identify them during the sailing. The technology allows guests to open their cabin, make payments, and embark and disembark, all through a small pendant that can be worn on a wristband, a necklace, or kept in a pocket.
Six other ships are already on the schedule for the OceanMedallion upgrade in 2020: Ruby Princess on Jan. 27, Grand Princess on Mar. 29, Enchanted Princess on June 15, Emerald Princess on Aug. 16, Coral Princess on Oct. 16, and Island Princess on Dec. 20.
Other ships are getting the upgrade in 2019, including Crown Princess, which will be upgraded today; and Sky Princess, which gets it on Oct. 12. MedallionNet is already available on Caribbean Princess, Regal Princess, and Royal Princess.
